US Poker Deposit Methods This Winter
Winter is peak season for online poker fans. The cold weather keeps people indoors, and the poker sites put on some great deals and events to keep the games fresh. For US players, the question of what poker deposit methods are working is important. Here are the methods working at the biggest US poker sites for winter 2025 / 2025.
#1 – Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard)
This one surprises some players, but Credit-cards have been getting more successful lately, with many deposits sailing right through. The key advantage here is speed. When it works you’ll have the money available instantly, and can get on with playing the games.
You will need to make sure that your card is able to make international purchases. Sometimes banks block this for security reasons. If this is blocked then a quick call to your bank is all that is needed. There is no need to tell them you are making a poker deposit.
If your primary card fails, then try that backup card instead! If this is not an option, there are often pre-paid Visa cards which will do the trick. These are the kind that you purchase from convenience stores in denominations of $20, $50, $100 and so on. Before you go out to buy one, call your poker site and find out which brands are working at the moment – it could save you buying one that is not suitable.
#2 – Rapid Transfer (Western Union)
This is the most reliable poker deposit method as we go into the winter months. It does require some legwork, though you can definitely get your money on board this way. Here is what you need to do to deposit with Rapid Transfer:
-
First up, call your poker site, speak to someone in the cashier section and let them know that you would like to deposit this way. They will give you a recipient name and a unique tracking number that you will use for the transfer.
-
Next, you’ll need to find your local Western Union branch. These are all over the place, with at least one in every city and large town, and several in the bigger metros.
-
You then go along with your recipient + tracking number and some cash, and ask the agent in the office to transfer. You will pay a fee to Western Union, though some of the better poker sites will return this for larger deposits (ask your rep!).
-
Your poker site then reconciles the transfer with your account, and you should have the money available to play with the same day.
This is not the quickest method, though what it lacks in speed it makes up for by being super-reliable. What is more you can withdraw your winnings through the same system. This only takes a few days max, making it a much faster method than the traditional paper check.
#3 – MoneyGram
This is the same process as for Western Union, with the only difference being that this is for deposits only and not withdrawals. Some sites will only have one or the other cash transfer companies available, while others will use both.
Remember, US poker sites are very soft and recreational compared with the international games pre Black-Friday, they are well worth a little effort to deposit at.
